Located in a beautiful sprawling neighborhood of Pacific Palisades, this French-inspired home stole the hearts of my clients as they looked for a larger house to grow with their new family. The interior had all the authentic details of a French home, including plaster walls, antique fireplaces, reclaimed beams and vintage lighting, but much of it felt overly decorative and old-fashioned to this young couple. Our intention to transform this home inside and out, without stripping away its original character, included updated finishes, contemporary lighting, and a simplified staircase railing, as well as relaxed furnishings with a contemporary flair and modern art. We updated the kitchen by staining the cabinets a deep coffee brown and replacing the brightly-colored tile with a handsome custom glazed tile on the walls. Throughout, we instilled a bit of luxe with chic fabric choices and deep-pile carpets, and added a bit of age with vintage accessories. Our clients were thrilled with the new hip aesthetic as they settled into their new home, and soon their little family of three grew to a beautiful family of five.
